St. Gallen, 1 March 2022. Certified quality, safety and hygiene in pharmaceutical shipping: As the first Militzer & Münch Germany locations, the Frankfurt/Air Port and Hof branch offices were certified according to the Good Distribution Practice (GDP) guidelines for the transport of medicinal products in January 2022. Thus, from now on, Militzer & Münch guarantees customers the safe transport of pharmaceutical products by air and sea, as well as by road.
An independent audit, carried out by certification specialist SGS, confirms that the processes at the Militzer & Münch sites in Frankfurt and Hof meet the high requirements of the European Guidelines on Good Distribution Practice of medicinal products for human use. The certificate covers the safe, hygienic and undamaged delivery of temperature-controlled transports. In addition to the existing quality management system, Militzer & Münch has adapted all relevant processes in order to be able to offer its customers GDP-compliant services.
“The certification offers us completely new possibilities in product development; we are accessing new markets here and addressing an extended clientele”, Holger Seehusen and Thomas Winter, the Managing Directors of Militzer & Münch Germany, agree. “Both the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors are growth industries where we can offer shippers added value with the quality and safety of our transport processes.”
Cross-border pharmaceutical transports
The next step will now be to audit additional subcontractors in Germany for compliance with GDP guidelines. There are also plans to implement the GDP standards at other Militzer & Münch country units. Greece and Bulgaria have already introduced them; France, Poland, Turkey, and Dubai are now to follow soon. In cooperation with Militzer & Münch Germany, they will offer cross-border transports of medicinal products and medical devices.
“The auditing company did not find a single deviation from the stipulated standards at the Frankfurt and Hof sites,” says Eva Charlotte Dürr, Group Project Manager Pharmaceuticals at Militzer & Münch. “We would like to thank all those involved in the project for their excellent teamwork, and we look forward with confidence to the upcoming audits in further national units.”
